Design and Construction

Design Philosophy: The goal was to create a beach home with touches of Alabama, while maximizing the stunning views from the elevated lot.

Materials & Techniques: We used reclaimed wood, natural stone, and energy-efficient glass. The large porches were treated with top-tier waterproofing, and all windows and doors are wind and impact-resistant.

Challenges & Solutions: Building on a hill near the coast required reinforced structural framing to ensure this tall beach home exceeds code standards and remains resilient.

Customization & Personalization

Client Preferences: The client wanted their forever home to reflect both their Alabama roots and their beachside dreams, with a focus on style, functionality, and low maintenance.

Unique Features: Reclaimed wood and rustic stone bring a country feel to the living room. Custom porch-style doors with springs and screens were created for the pantry. A stylish elevator offers easy access to the third-floor perch, maximizing the breathtaking view.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

When we decided to build our home in Inlet Beach (being from Alabama), we had no idea of where or how to find a great contractor. One of our friends (a contractor in Alabama himself), observed Grahame Family Home Builders building next door to his beach house, and recommended them. We were looking for a contractor that was HONEST, knew the “business”, knew all the mandates, restrictions, how to obtain a building permit that Walton County required, would use the best subs, knew a good architect to adjust our plans, and would build our forever home as if it were his own. When we met with Kris Grahame we found ALL these qualities and more. We could just tell in talking with him, he was the one! He has a computerized schedule that he provided that showed every step, materials, all invoices, etc., that kept us informed of every penny that was spent and what we had to spend according to our budget. This really impressed us and was very helpful as we knew what to expect each day. He was always ahead of schedule. He has been more than we ever expected. His dad, Tony Grahame was our project manager and was also exceptional! They explained any questions we had in detail and made sure we were satisfied with everything! Not only did we find an exceptional contractor, but now (two) very good forever friends!” – The Smiths.

Sustainable Practices

Energy Efficiency: High-efficiency HVAC systems and experience with insulation allowed us to create a unique building envelope to condition only certain parts of the first floor. Efficient equipment, tankless water heater, doors and windows kept the home energy conscience.

CONCLUSION

We were happy to add another well-built, energy efficient and durable home with a unique design and style to the Inlet Beach area. A new outstanding view of the ocean, the reason everything is here around us, was a privilege.
